LIFE  AND  DEATH

Soft Robotic
Interactive Installation
Concept
This work is an interactive installation that combines soft robotics with AI-generated visuals, originating from the philosophical structure of "unity and contradiction" in dialectical materialism, and the principle of entropy reduction as a process of ordering.A “breathing” robot was created through a process of 3D modeling → silicone molding → pneumatic actuation. In addition, a generative image system was built by integrating Stable Diffusion with TouchDesigner, enabling real-time visual responses to audience input.

When the red button is pressed, the soft robot begins to move, and the visuals shift from monochrome to color.Furthermore, when strong intent or physical pressure is detected (such as a firm press), the chaotic black-and-white imagery—symbolizing a state of death—transforms into vivid, distinct floral visuals that represent life. The installation visualizes the idea that “order” emerges through human intention and awareness, making “life” possible. It is designed as a device that bridges reality and the virtual, life and death, and renders their cyclical structure into an experiential form.

About  Works

Exploring ideas and images that can exist only within media art. By assigning improper functions, dismantling original significations, and blending form with content, my work exposes the symbolic systems in which we operate.
